Courses and Descriptions:

Green Ink: Green Ink will deepen your creative relationship with the natural world of London, the Forest City. Heighten your awareness and renew your sense of place in nature through personal experiences, inspired readings, wanderings, and wonderings. To hone your writing skills you will observe nature up close and explore the importance of capturing sights, smells, tastes, sounds and experiences. You will review the history of the Canadian wilderness in literature.

Culture and Diversity: Leadership Challenges: Understand how organizations are structured, how they operate, and how the individuals who make up that organization perceive themselves and their roles. Discover why getting to know your organization’s culture can ensure employee retention and motivation. Examine the challenges of leadership in a global, diverse and multicultural society.

Gender Diversity in Leadership: Become acquainted with the general and specific components of male and female leadership styles. Discuss the differences in effective communication, and interpersonal skills required to manage and advance effectively. Generate strategies to improve performance and lead more effectively by understanding gender diversity.

Community Relations: Understand how corporate branding and social responsibility are two major components of developing working relationships with key stakeholders in the community. Identify issues and conditions affecting corporate communications within the community, how you currently interact with your community, what the community expects from you and how these relationships can be improved.

Collaboration, teams and Communities in Learning: Explore various concepts and theories, including team development, community building, and collaborative leadership. Discover the benefits and limits of team-based approaches. Engage in reflection on past experience with group dynamics while active within your own blended community of practice.

Public Relations and Communications for Not-for-Profits: Communicate, sell and distinguish your organization’s identity. This course will show you how to differentiate your not-for-profit organization from the others with an effective communications strategy. You will learn to write a communications plan, build strong media relations and develop media events. In addition, you will learn to recognize a crisis and build an appropriate crisis communication plan
