Each April UW-L sponsors an "Undergraduate Research and Creativity" day, which is dedicated to supporting research, scholarly, and creative activities by students in all academic disciplines. This is a day-long event in which students showcase formal research posters, platform presentations, and creative performances.

Presentations often include projects that are focused on sustainability-related themes. Presentations in 2014 included:

• Tournament Angling in Wisconsin: The Economic Impact of Bass, Salmon, and Walleye Fishing Tournaments on Host Communities
• Effects of flooding, invasion and nitrogen addition on nitrogen cycling in the upper Mississippi river floodplain
• Relation among methylmercury, selenium, and biomarkers of oxidative stress in livers of northern pike
• The Relationship of the Campus, the Community, and Environmental Movements in La Crosse
• Identity Development in Northern Thailand: Hmong Thai Experiences as a Marginalized Group
• At Risk as Disrespect: The Experience of Black Male Youth in Wisconsin
• Refining Our Understanding of the Toxicity of the Sediments from Myrick Marsh
• Providing a Blueprint for Complete Streets Reform through Network Analysis of Supporters
• Radiocarbon Dating of Lake Sediments for the Development of a Climate Record for the Ancient Settlement of Aztalan (A.D. 1000-1250)
• Effects of Roadways in Wetlands on Dragonfly Communities

UW-L maintains a web site that lists transportation alternatives available to students and staff and parents of students. It includes information on the U-Pass (public transportation pass for UWL students, faculty and staff), bicycles for rent, bus lines for week travel, Amtrak and our Enterprise Car Share program.

The Catalyst is a UW-L publication created by the UW-La Crosse English Club that publishes original prose (fiction and nonfiction), poetry, artwork, photography, videos, music, and more from UW-L students, faculty, and staff. The Catalyst does not have a sustainability theme, though nearly issue includes one or more pieces that address a sustainability-related them in a creative manner.
