The School of Freshwater Sciences is, as of September 2014, heated in part by city steam from We Energies' downtown Valley Power Plant (VPP). The VPP converted two coal-fired boilers to natural gas (Unit 1 converted in November 2014, Unit 2 converted in November 2015). FY15 energy used for heating includes this portion of coal energy before conversion of Unit 1 and before conversion of Unit 2.
