A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

The Climate Assessment Project invited all members of the campus community (e.g., students, faculty, academic staff, and classified staff) to participate in a survey designed for respondents to provide information about their personal experiences with regard to climate issues, their perceptions of the campus climate, employees’ work-life issues, and their perceptions of institutional actions, including administrative policies and academic initiatives regarding climate issues and concerns on campus.


A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):

The recommended next steps asked the Diversity Leadership Committee and other campus constituent groups using to use the results of the internal assessment to help to lay the groundwork for future initiatives to will address the items of concern that the assessment revealed. Moreover the Inclusive Excellence* operational plan has been informed by the survey results.

*Inclusive Excellence is a planning process intended to help each UW System institution establish a comprehensive and well-coordinated set of systemic actions that focus specifically on fostering greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and accountability at every level of university life. The central premise of Inclusive Excellence holds that UW System colleges and universities need to intentionally integrate their diversity efforts into the core aspects of their institutions—such as their academic priorities, leadership, quality improvement initiatives, decision-making, day-to-day operations, and organizational cultures—in order to maximize their success.
