Christine Thomas is dean and professor of resource management at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources. She was appointed by Governor Doyle serve on the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board, serving three years as chair. She was reappointed and reconfirmed for a second term, serving as secretary, until her appointment officially ended in April 2015.

A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:

A sustainability operations project team was developed due to the 2018 restructuring of the University of Wisconsin system. UW-Stevens Point is working with two other colleges to 1) identify the sustainability efforts made on their campuses and 2) determine what changes need to be made to have their programs consistent with UW-Stevens Point.

Several of our extension programs mentor other institutions and community programs. Some examples:
Center for Land Use Education specialists, with input from our partners, create learning opportunities for communities. By providing up-to-date, comprehensive training on planning and zoning taylored to address specific local needs, our specialist are able to assist towns, villages, cities and counties in making sound land use decisions.

Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology

UW Extension Lakes work with the 766 lake organizations in Wisconsin and coordinate a number of programs and projects to assist those concerned with the future of our lakes.

A brief description of the peer review activities:

A sustainability operations project team, developed due to the 2018 restructuring of the University of Wisconsin system, is reviewing sustainability data of the 2-year campuses. It is yet to be determined if their data needs to be combined with UW-Stevens Point for GHG reporting, STARS reporting, etc.

Yes

A brief description of other collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year:

UWSP and other schools in the UW-System continue to work together to advocate for change at the UW-System level as well as on the campus level. This is done through monthly conference calls and an annual meeting.
