UW-Stout signed the ACUPCC in 2007 and adopted a Campus Sustainability Action Plan in 2009. This plan is our guiding document for sustainable development of the campus. We review it annually and assign sustainability-related charges to various departments and committees on campus. Charges for this Action Plan are assigned by many levels of campus, including the Chancellor and Strategic Planning Group, the Vice Chancellor of Administrative & Student Life Services, and Student Life Services. These charges are to be completed within 12 months. Departments are required to report back every 6 months.
Additionally, the Sustainability Steering Committee updates the Campus Sustainability Action Plan every five years, then presents it to the Strategic Planning Group for approval. There is no actual plan for this on our campus. However, a portion of the the Sustainability Coordinator's job is to engage with the local community (i.e., City, County, local businesses, local non-profits, etc.) and region to further sustainable development. This is outlined in the position description for the Sustainability Coordinator. It is also inherent in the work of many people on campus.

A brief description of the plan(s) to advance sustainability in Water:
UW-Stout signed the ACUPCC in 2007 and adopted a Campus Sustainability Action Plan in 2009. This plan is our guiding document for sustainable development of the campus. We review it annually and assign sustainability-related charges to various departments and committees on campus. Charges for this Action Plan are assigned by many levels of campus, including the Chancellor and Strategic Planning Group, the Vice Chancellor of Administrative & Student Life Services, and Student Life Services. These charges are to be completed within 12 months. Departments are required to report back every 6 months.
Additionally, the Sustainability Steering Committee updates the Campus Sustainability Action Plan every five years, then presents it to the Strategic Planning Group for approval. This plan seeks to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and educate student and staff regarding climate change by creating objectives for the following areas of campus sustainability:

♣ Landscapes & Grounds
♣ Waste
♣ Food
♣ Curriculum & Research
♣ Transportation
♣ Air & Climate

The Sustainability Steering Committee sets new greenhouse gas emissions reductions goals every five years, which are also approved by UW-Stout’s Strategic Planning Group.
The Sustainability Office benchmarks a number of performance indicators monthly, quarterly, and/or annually. Additionally, along with the Applied Research Center, the Sustainability Office conducts biennial greenhouse gas emissions inventories to monitor progress toward our 5-year greenhouse gas emissions goals.
UW-Stout’s Strategic Planning Group incorporated the Campus Sustainability Action Plan into its strategic planning process, along with several other action plans that the university prioritizes. The University has excluded 402 diversity funding for student programming and services from all budget cuts for many years which does bode for our commitment to sustainability. These are 402 state funds and could be subject to reductions.
We also have a 4-year Infusing Diversity across the Curriculum Project, with a total of 40 faculty/staff, who are committed to transforming their courses with the infusion of multiculturalism and diversity-based content and experiences.
