Several comments to better understand the data presented above:
1. All units have been converted from kg to tons. 1 ton = 907 kg
2. Interpret the amounts of "materials disposed as garbage" as following:
In 2005 only 2.5 ton (2.199 kg, 0% of the total amount) was disposed as waste.
In 2012 only 1.2 ton (1.121 kg, 0% of total amount).
The rest of the amounts 1223 ton (or 1.110.159 kg) in 2005 and 13732 ton (or 1.245.763 kg) in 2012 were used to generate energy, and were thus put to use.
3. The amount of staff and faculty members were calculated based on the fulltime equivalent (FTE). The division between part-time and full-time staff and faculty members is currently not known.
4. The reason for less recycled material is mainly due to a decrease in disposed paper due to the increased use of tablets and computers.
