There are three options for pre-orientation trips available to incoming first-year students related to sustainability: Sustainability and Leadership (addressing all three pillars of sustainability), Volunteer Venture (addressing social and economic sustainability) and Appalachian Adventure (addressing ecological sustainability).
Every first-year also does a "Perspectives" tour of the campus where one of the stops is Service Learning and a walk-through of the Campus Kitchen.
Additionally, the Campus Garden manager provides information about sustainability for Residential Advisers prior to orientation for first-year students.
