Has the institution developed a bicycle plan?:
A brief description of the plan:
The University has completed the WUSTL Bicycle Master Plan, the objective of which is two-fold. First and foremost, the plan was developed in an effort to support our community through the encouragement of bicycling as a safe and sustainable means of alternative transportation for our commuters. There are multiple regional bike ways/organizations throughout our community and the University is committed to supporting and coordinating with them in their regional planning. The bicycle master planning effort was also conducted with the intention of integrating bicycle design into the Danforth campus master planning efforts. The aim is to preserve the campus for pedestrians and to provide clear paths for cyclists through the segregation of the two. In order to further promote cycling, the master plan includes the development of ‘nodes’ around the campus that will provide safe and secure parking in close proximity to shower facilities. A substantive portion of the this plan has already been implemented, integrating a major regional bike way with the Danforth campus. Additional work on campus perimeter routes will continue into next year.
