There is Students for Sustainability group and is recognized by the Student Activities department and has a faculty advisor.

Washtenaw Community College maintains ~3,000 sq.ft. hoop house that is used to grow vegetables during an extended growing season. In addition there are outside herb gardens and a bee hive. Some of the vegetables are delivered to the Colleges Culinary program for use in preparing meals. Some produce is given to needy students through the Counseling department. Other produce is given to garden volunteers. The Core Garden is currently transitioning to be under the guidance of Washtenaw Technical Middle College, a high school based at WCC.

The Students for Sustainability group has hosted various events including a movie night, food bowls to fight hunger, and guest speakers all related to encouraging sustainability.

Sustainability Literacy Task Force has sponsored event for five + years related to different year themes: energy, water, trees, food....

The College has walking trail spread throughout our wooded areas that are used by classes and nature groups to observe nature and they do follow the "Leave No Trace" principle.
