The committee is comprised of faculty, staff, and students, who are selected by the co-chairs of the committee. The SAC recommends policies to the President of the College, and also helps review environmental projects on campus. For example, the SAC oversees the Class of 1957 Green Fund, which approves applications for campus wide sustainability initiatives.
A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive (1st program):
SAC members are chosen due to their sustainability knowledge and commitment on the Wellesley campus. They attend bi-monthly meetings with the rest of the committee.

Any funding comes out of the Office of Sustainability budget.

The Office of Sustainability selects two to three students to work year round on projects within the office. These interns are chosen for our education experience in the field of sustainability. They work directly for the Director and are involved in various academic and administrative tasks and operations.

There is a mini-orientation and direct work experience that prepares the interns for their positions.

The interns are funded from the Office of Sustainability Budget.

The Office of Sustainability hires students as campus-wide Eco-Rep Coordinators to work on sustainability assignments to enhance environmental efforts in the Wellesley College community.

The Eco-Rep Coordinators receive a formal orientation with the Office of Sustainability staff. This orientation prepares them to fully participate in projects such as recycling audits and water fountain inventories for major buildings on campus.

The Eco-Rep Coordinators are paid directly through the Office of Sustainability.

These Eco-Representatives are dormitory-specific, and are chosen by the House Council of each dormitory.

The dorm-specific Eco-Reps are trained and guided by their House Council with input from the eco-rep coordinators and the Office of Sustainability to suit the specific needs of that dorm. They are instructed in coordinating recycling efforts, but are largely free to pursue their own projects.
