A brief description of the policies and/or guidelines to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources:
Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) Outdoor Air Quality Policy is to evaluate ways to reduce the impact of outdoor air pollution sources including but not limited to inefficient fuel combustion from motor vehicles, power generation, and energy. As part of the evaluation, WIT will determine whether or not a pollution prevention method is economically and technically feasible for implementation. If it is determined that a pollution prevention method is economically and technically feasible then the method will be presented to WIT's Executive Committee for approval. Under this policy, WIT's Sustainability Committee will also develop and implement long-term policies and programs aimed to reduce outdoor air pollution and improve health.
Wentworth adheres to all applicable reporting requirements for air quality, including local, state, and Federal regulations.
The campus has a policy and signage indicating that there is no idling allowed in loading dock areas.
Physical Plant utilizes six electric utility vehicles for day-to-day operations on campus, reducing the need for gasoline and diesel, and improving local air quality.
In addition, a streamlined procedure for move-in / move-out allows students and their families to reduce idling from over an hour to less than five minutes by eliminating multiple stops in the check-in process, and offering wheeled carts to transport belongings on foot from a central campus parking lot.

Wentworth has an inventory of stationary sources which is reported under the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Source Registration Regulations.
Emissions of HAPs are reported as an aggregate number based on chemical use in laboratories.
