A brief description of the program(s):

In 2010 WKU's Office of Sustainability, Center for Environmental Education and Sustainability, and Institute for Citizenship and Social Responsibility hosted the first ever Education for Sustainability faculty development retreat. The two-day retreat was held at Barren River State Park and guest speakers included AASHE Director Paul Rowland. The retreat presented faculty with opportunities to learn from experts and each other about concepts, pedagogies, innovative programs and resources to help them incorporate sustainability into classes across the curriculum, with the ultimate goal of providing future citizens the education and skills necessary in the transition to a sustainable society.


A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:

WKU currently offers a $500 faculty development award to faculty who attended the Sustainability Across the Curriculum faculty retreat and revised courses to include sustainability concepts.
