A brief description of how the institution meets the criteria:
The University has accepted the WA state Governor’s challenge:
“Increase contracting and procurement with minority and women-owned businesses through genuine outreach, opportunity, and inclusion.”
The University follows state procurement practices on soliciting Minority and women owned businesses. (OMWBE) Currently there are no preferences in the RFP process, but there is an organized structured way for WWU to target notification to these business. WAC 326-30-041 has annual goals of 8% Minority Owned Business and 4% Women Owned business for Purchased Goods and for Purchased Services a goal of 10% Minority Owned Business and 4% Women Owned business. The state provides a master vendor registration area for WWU to post quotes and bids and targeted businesses are encouraged to register (for free) on this state system. If the University chooses not to place a bid or quote through this master system University personnel are required to obtain one quote from an OMWBE business.
