A brief description of the institution’s supportive sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:

The York U Farmer’s Market (YUM) takes place every Thursday during the fall and winter semesters. The market offers hot meals, fresh produce, prepared vegetarian/vegan dishes and student-made jewelry and crafts. All the market vendors provide goods that are locally sourced, and sustainably produced. YUM is endorsed and supported by the student run organization Regenesis@York, and York University Food Services.

Yes

A brief description of the institution's collaborative sustainability partnership(s):

Ontario EcoSchools, created through a collaboration of local school boards, external partners and the Faculty of
Environmental Studies, is an environmental education and certification program for grades K-12 that helps school
communities develop both ecological literacy and environmental practices to become environmentally responsible
citizens and reduce the environmental footprint of schools. Participating schools learn how to increase their capacity for energy conservation, waste minimization, school ground greening and ecological literacy. Approximately 1800 schools in 53 school boards across the province participated last year. The Steering Committee is chaired by Professor Lewis Molot.

Yes

A brief description of the institution's transformative sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:

Staff from the TD Engagement centre sit on the President's Sustainability Council and currently chair the Social Justice and Human Rights Working Group. They lead initiatives such as the York U Anchor Institution and Community Benefits Framework, which seeks to set out the ways in which the University can partner with local communities to enhance employment opportunities, economic opportunities, community engagement, local community infrastructure, and local purchasing.
