York’s Custodial service has implemented a Green Cleaning Initiative. The Vert-2-Go product line from Wood Wyant is used for all cleaning on campus. All Vert-2-Go Sanitation products are certified EcoLogo, a program recognized for its holistic and stringent evaluation of the entire manufacturing process, and which combines strict environmental standards with an independent third-party audit. Products are shipped in a concentrated form and formulated on site prior to use with a safe and accurate product dispensing system.

In order to ensure that only EcoLogo certified products are purchased, all cleaning supply procurement follows York University’s procurement process. Through the procurement software, only Vert-2-Go products are available for purchase.
As well, quality assurance inspections are regular, to ensure the staff are using the products and chemicals correctly. The inspection process has recently been improved and digitized, and is moving to smart phone devices. A data bank of all quality assurance information is created over time. The web based system allows for quicker feedback for the grading of washrooms, and ensuring processes are followed.
