York has a President's Advisory Committee on Human Rights (PACHR), which is chaired by the Director of York's Centre for Human Rights.
In accordance with the University’s commitment to human rights, the President’s Advisory Committee on Human Rights:
- Shall serve as a forum for the presentation and discussion of human rights matters;
- Shall advise on the development and implementation of policies and procedures as necessary;
- Shall undertake reviews of existing human rights policies and procedures from time to time;
- Shall advise on the coordination and planning of human rights areas and activities.
The PACHR meets 4 times per year.

The Center for Human Rights is the office that exists to provide fair resolution of conflicts and complaints founded upon prohibited ground under the Ontario Human Rights Code. The office serves also as an educational hub for resources pertaining to diversity, equity and accessibility. As part of its educational role, the Centre will liaise with human rights groups, associations, and organizations within the University. As part of the Centre’s goal to advance the culture of human rights and engage the community, they offer training and presentations throughout the year. Some of these programs include: Inclusivity training, diversity and social justice 101, diversity in the classroom, introduction human rights, positive space (level 1), and others.

York University provides training on diversity, sexual orientation, and working with persons with disabilities, all designed to create a positive working environment on campus. See: http://aoda.yorku.ca/cs/

The CHR offers multiple workshop and training programs on a variety of topics including: inclusivity training, diversity training, respect in the workplace, human rights, sexual harassment and others, see http://rights.info.yorku.ca/education-training-presentations/
Education and training offered by the CHR are free to faculty, staff, administrators and students.

The Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies also offers a Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and Equity Studies. The Department of Equity Studies offers 30 courses that cover a wide range of social justice, human rights and equity issues. These courses are available to students in any undergraduate program. To ensure that the University complies with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005, everyone who interacts on its behalf with the public must be trained in accessible customer service.
