What is the difference between Required, Conditionally Required and Optional reporting fields?

Each STARS credit may have three types of reporting fields:
Required fields must be filled out to save the credit as complete, calculate the score for the credit, and make the credit available for inclusion in a published report.
Conditionally required fields must be completed if certain conditions are met. For example if an institution responds “Yes” that is has a certain program, then a description of that program may be required. (The trigger for each conditionally required field is outlined in the STARS Technical Manual).
Optional fields are not required to save the credit as complete and have no impact on scoring. They are included to give participants the opportunity to provide additional context.
