The mission of the Concordia Student Sustainability Program is to increase sustainability literacy within the campus community and using this new understanding to develop more sustainable behaviours.
The Ambassador Program is open to students of all disciplines and interests. Sustainability Ambassadors work with Concordia's sustainability team at the Office of Environmental Health and Safety to build knowledge surrounding issues of sustainability and explore how best to raise awareness about these issues amongst their peers.
Participation starts with some training, a few volunteer opportunities and its up to each Ambassador where to go from there. Ambassadors decide on how many hours they have available to contribute.
The Waste Not Want Not Campaign has already hosted several events during orientation where student educators are teaching other students about how to properly use waste bins (compost and recycling). These activities were done through tabling and standing by waste bins with special signs.
The Waste Not Want Not Campaign student educators have also been at several large events on campus including the President's breakfast to teach other students about proper waste bin use.
The Waste Not Want Not Campaign also hosted an online component to its campaign by taking professional photographs of students, staff and faculty holding up self-made signs with information about compost on them. These pictures were posted on the campaign social media page to encourage awareness around compost and encourage other students to get involved.

A call out for volunteer educators goes out during the summer. The student educators are selected based on their availability for orientation and other events.

A training on Concordia's sustainability waste stations is given so that educators can teach other students how to use the bins properly at various events throughout the year.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) has committed the Sustainability Coordinator to provide the logistical support for volunteer management, communications support and support in recruiting new team organizors for the upcoming year. The Ambassador Program is also hosted on the EHS website and the Sustainability Coordinator makes any changes needed.
