ASU Enterprise Partners (parent company of the ASU Foundation) created a Sub-Committee of the Investment Committee specifically to address the issues of sustainability and social responsibility as it relates to the Foundation's Investments. This ESG Sub-Committee has developed and oversees an investment policy and strategy for an endowed Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Pool. The sub-committee, along with investment staff, continue to engage with University leadership and sustainability experts at BlackRock to measure ESG investment risk and opportunity, the impact of the endowment's investments, and alignment with ASU's visionary charter of public service.

The Sub-Committee includes the Investment Committee Chair, Investment Committee Vice-Chair/ASU Staff member, an Investment Committee Advisory member/Alumni, an ASU Faculty member, an ASU student, and internal staff.


Examples of CIR actions during the previous three years:

The sub-committee recently recommended the approval of an endowed Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Pool to the ASU Foundation Board of Directors and, in partnership with internal staff and BlackRock, developed a comprehensive investment strategy that incorporates sustainability and social responsibility at the core of investment decision-making.

In addition, the sub-committee, through work with BlackRock and investment staff, has developed and implemented a comprehensive standardized ESG scorecard to measure both the sustainability and social responsibility of the endowment program alongside the carbon footprint of the endowment's investments.
