In Spring 2015, the college president charged a 12-member Inclusive Living and Learning Task Force comprised of faculty, staff, students, and trustees “to evaluate, recommend, and support sustained and sustainable institutional change that leads to a deeper institutional understanding of the valuing of difference at Beloit College. This group was charged with making recommendations regarding long-term systemic action and appropriate approaches to inclusivity; providing guidance for ways that faculty/staff members may more fully recognize the essential value of non-majority identities in achieving the mission of the college; and offering recommendations on the development of anti-racist pedagogy and diverse approaches to how and what we teach. A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs and initiatives:

The college’s institutional research office works with stakeholders across campus to collect data on student and employee outcomes, turn the data into use-able information, and share with stakeholders for action. Data on graduation rates for underrepresented groups was produced and shared with members of the Inclusive Living and Learning Task Force. The Task Force also assessed employee engagement survey findings by demographic group in its study of equity. The findings informed the campus-wide #makeequityreal events of Spring 2016, which engaged the entire campus in extensive education and conversations about identifying and improving equity at Beloit College.
