Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes

Percentage of employees assessed, directly or by representative sample:
48

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

In Spring 2018 and Spring 2020, CSUCI administered Diversity Learning Environments Surveys to students and Staff Climate Surveys to employees in collaboration with the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA. The surveys asked faculty, staff, administrators, and students about their perceptions of their overall employment/educational satisfaction and their experiences with campus diversity and inclusion efforts. These surveys were designed to understand and compare perceptions in relation to the institutional climate and diversity on campus. The surveys were distributed to all students and employees via email, with several follow-up emails encouraging participation. Responses were received from 48% of university employees.

Raw data was received by the campus in the summer and analyses of the data was conducted throughout the following fall semester in 2018 and 2020. Final reports were sent to the campus in the early spring of 2019 and 2021.

Beginning in Fall, 2022 the campus will administer more focused instruments each semester rather than every two years. These briefer, more focused surveys will provide the institution with more timely and actionable findings. The campus is in the midst of analyzing data received in the Fall, 2022 survey. The response rate is currently estimated at 48%.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

Each of the Divisions as well as the President’s Advisory Council for Inclusive Excellence hold open town halls to discuss results and determine actions to address deficits found within the report. The first cross-divisional conversation was held in May of 2019 and six additional conversations were held in the fall semester. The campus also conducts "Courageous Conversations" – safe spaces where faculty, staff and students may speak openly about challenges identified by the surveys.

Two Campus Climate Town Halls to discuss Fall 2022 survey results will be held on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023 and Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023.
