A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Creation of Green Happenings. A series of monthly programs focused on sustainability topics held in partnership with area libraries. Monthly attendance is 15 to 40, programs include films & discussion, as well as presentations by college faculty and community groups. Topics included:
"carbon nation," a climate change solutions movie, "Kankakee Farmer’s Market Discussion & KCC Greenhouse Tour", "Food ,Inc.","Becoming a Good Steward of
the Earth: Ecology & Religion", "Sustainable Landscaping", " Recycling—a Growth Industry", etc.
