Stormwater retention ponds accompany some existing and all new parking lots. Runoff from paved areas is encouraged toward landscaping on new paved areas and campus roads.

Knox College currently has four retention ponds. The City of Galesburg code requires one retention pond for all new buildings and parking lots over 5,000 square feet.
