A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

In fall of 2020, MSU began finalizing a new onboarding process for employees. New employees are able to attend the "New Employee Welcome Program", which includes materials and information from the Office of Sustainability. The orientation introduces new employees to various aspects of MSU sustainability, including the MSU Sustainability Framework of the 4Cs; Surplus Store and Recycling Center; role as a Tree Campus Higher Education campus; MSU Bikes Service Center and being a Bicycle Friendly University; MSU's Student Organic Farm, and MSU's solar carports. The orientation also references also sustainabilty-related units, programs and features including: AgBioResearch; MSU Extension; Diversity equity and inclusion efforts; Beal Botanical Garden; Horticulture Gardens; Embracing sustainability through the arts (e.g., Broad Art Museum); and supporting employee health and well-being through Health4U and the Employee Assistance Program. The orientation emphasizes that every Spartan has a role in advancing MSU Sustainability, and encourages them to participate in programs like Waste Warriors. In addition, the new onboarding process includes a ""New Employees Task List"". The Task List to prepare employees for their first day and includes encouraging employees to take the MSU Sustainability Pledge. The full description of sustainability-related information from this task list is listed below. Please note that the pre-onboarding materials are on an internal sharepoint site; materials available upon request. https://hr.msu.edu/toolkits/new-employees.html
