A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:

The literacy assessment for students was developed by NSCC's Sustainability team in collaboration with Institutional Research. This was paired with the Sustainability Culture assessment (EN-6) in order to limit survey fatigue experienced by students. The pre-assessment survey was distributed to all NSCC students in advance of the 2019/20 Fall Academic semester. The post-assessment survey is scheduled to be conducted at the end of the Spring 2019/20 semester. Due to the amount of 1-2 year programs at NSCC, this is the only way we can ensure we capture measurable changes in student sustainability literacy.

A brief description of how a representative sample was reached (if applicable) and how the assessment(s) were administered :

The assessment was sent directly to all NSCC student emails in advance of the 2109/20 Fall academic semester. There was a 30% response rate (3000+ responses).

A brief summary of results from the literacy assessment(s):

Pending scheduled post-assessment survey.
