None of the campuses provide secure, indoor bicycle storage for commuters, but all campuses have bike racks that are secure when individuals provide their own locks. Each campus has a building that contains showers (towel service available at Castlegar campus) and lockers that are available to bicycle commuters.
Does the institution provide short-term bicycle parking for all occupied buildings and makes long-term bicycle storage available for students who live on-site (if applicable)?:

The Castlegar campus has 2 bike parking areas. One rack is outside of the main campus building (8 bicycle capacity), 2 bike racks located under shelter are outside of the gym, and the new one (shelter plus bike racks) is to be installed near the cafeteria.
There is 1 indoor bike storage area in the north storage of the Kekuli House Residence, and another in the 10th St. Campus residence building. There is one bike rack each outside of the Mary Hall and Patenaude buildings. The Silver King campus has 1 bike rack outside of the main building, and indoor bike parking in the shop buildings.

The West Kootenay Transit System of BC Transit provides service to Selkirk College campuses. Special rates are offered to student commuters such as the "Semester Pass", which is a 4-month bulk discount compared to purchasing 4 individual monthly passes. Additionally, the student rates for a monthly pass is equivalent to senior rates, providing a discount compared to adult fares.

Selkirk runs a carpool program on both our Castlegar and Silver King campuses. Participants must register their vehicle to receive a carpool parking pass which allows them to park in one of the designated parking spots, which are located in prime locations. Vehicles must carry a minimum of 2 passengers to qualify for the program.

Selkirk promotes Kootenay Carshare Cooperative, a regional car-sharing program, that now offers full and casual memberships. Several carshare vehicles are parked within walking distance to Selkirk's Nelson campuses.

Selkirk College is a flexible and accommodating employer and allows for employees to work from home when possible. Teleconferencing and video conferencing are encouraged within the College's travel policy.

Selkirk hosts a Bike to College week bi-annually on both Castlegar and Nelson campuses. Commuters are encouraged to ride a bike to college each day during that week. Participants have opportunities to win prizes and learn about bicycle maintenance from local cycling shops.
