Biology:
"Faculty have research interests that span the breadth of modern biology, from molecules to ecosystems and are committed to research training of students at all levels".

Earth Sciences:
"The study of Earth sciences combines experiential learning, interdisciplinary study and a culture of innovation and discovery.
Understanding natural hazards. Assessing climate variability and global change. Predicting the migration of man-made pollutants. Exploring the energy and mineral resources upon which society depends. The nature of our planet and insights into some of humanity’s deepest questions"

International Relations Undergraduate Program:
"We live in an international age. We are more closely connected to other peoples, cultures, and countries than ever before, and global events affect our daily lives in countless ways. Modern communications instantly deliver news from around the world; we consume goods produced through global supply chains; millions of people continue to migrate across national borders and across the globe, to seek economic opportunities or to flee violence and chaos; carbon emissions in one country can affect the climate in many others; ideas and ideals can spread like wildfire. This new and intense level of interconnectedness presents American and global citizens with enormous challenges and opportunities. Environmental degradation, poverty, the spread of disease, and many forms of political violence result from global trends and require global solutions. But globalization also presents us with the opportunity to pursue unrivaled levels of economic empowerment, cultural understanding, and human flourishing – if we can learn how to manage it for the benefit of all.

Department of Political Science:
"The Department of Political Science is devoted to the study of politics and government, domestically and abroad. This includes the study of political institutions that exercise government authority, including legislatures, courts, and administrative agencies; political organizations through which individuals and groups seek to reshape the political landscape, including parties, interest groups, and social movements; public policies that reflect governmental efforts to regulate the actions of individuals and corporations, including civil rights, immigration, and environmental policy; and the interactions between and among nation-states and transnational organizations that shape patterns of trade and development, conflict and cooperation, war and peace"

Policy Studies:
"The Policy Studies program offered by the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and the College of Arts and Sciences helps students understand the impacts of policies at all levels—from national, state, and local governments and from nonprofit and private business institutions. Our program provides the tools you will need to find a satisfying career path while being a good citizen and making your community better"

Department of Science Teaching:
"The Department of Science Teaching is where students--and faculty--deepen their STEM knowledge and understanding of the latest research in teaching STEM subjects through hands-on labs and engaging demonstrations. The department's faculty members share a commitment to training university STEM educators to be leaders and innovators in their respective fields.
The department maintains close collaborations with STEM colleagues in each of the natural sciences and engineering and is a recognized leader in discipline-based STEM education research programs.
Advanced degree programs are centered around evidence-based, active learning teaching approaches and cutting-edge STEM education research focused on undergraduate and graduate science teaching and learning"

Department of Sociology:
"Undergraduate training in sociology emphasizes broad understandings of how societies operate. Students develop more in-depth understanding of institutions and practices, including health care, families, education, criminology, environment, labor, industry, and immigration. They also develop expertise on particular social issues, including sex and gender, race, ethnicity, class, social policies, globalization, and power"

Environmental and Interior Design:
"Endeavors to teach students how to become creative problem-solvers and critical thinkers who excel in environmental design by fostering...an awareness of social responsibility, building stewardship, multicultural diversity, and ecology"

Environmental Engineering: students will "discover ways to apply engineering solutions to address economic, environmental, and societal problems."

Energy and its Impacts “provides students with the background required to understand the origin of today’s energy problems and the ability to seek 21st-century solutions”

Industrial Design - “Articulate the philosophical and ethical implications of design activity on society, culture, the environment, and professional practice."

Environmental and Interior Design: "Demonstrate an understanding of design as a unique tool to promote humanistic and progressive ideals embracing environmental responsibility, universal/ inclusive spaces, human-centered design, diversity, and progressive professional practices"

Geography: "Examine social and environmental processes, with a particular focus on space and place, critical theory, practical application, analysis and intervention in chosen field within the discipline of Geography"

Architecture: "Ability to demonstrate the principles of environmental systems’ design, how design criteria can vary by geographic region, and the tools used for performance assessment. This demonstration must include active and passive heating and cooling, solar geometry, daylighting, natural ventilation, indoor air quality, solar systems, lighting systems, and acoustics.... Understanding of the basic principles used in the appropriate selection of interior and exterior construction materials, finishes, products, components, and assemblies based on their inherent performance, including environmental impact and reuse.

Food Studies: "Examine domestic and global agri-food governance and policies"

Industrial and Interaction DSG:
“Combining theory and practice, taking a process-oriented approach, and focusing on social and environmental responsibility”

Environment, Sustainability, and Policy:
“This Integrated Learning Major (ILM) in Environment, Sustainability, and Policy is designed to introduce students to and ground them in the interdisciplinary study of environmental science, sustainability, and policy necessary to understand the nature of our changing planet, contribute solutions to advance sustainability, and become more engaged global citizens”
