IN-41: Textbook Affordability

All members of the ACG community – including current students, faculty, staff and registered alumni – are welcome to use the library and to take advantage of its resources, services & facilities. The library’s extensive print, online and audio-visual resources include more than:
129,000 books & 316,000 ebooks
12 million academic articles & many more from magazines and other periodicals
1 million digital images
2,500 DVDs, videos, and CDs
The library also houses the ACG Archives and selected Special Collections.
In pursuit of our efforts to introduce more electronic learning resources, more faculty members are adopting e-books for their courses. Students who register for these courses will receive the required textbook(s) in an electronic format (e-book), often along with various other electronic course materials, accessed through Blackboard. The adoption of e-books, introduces Deree students to learning methods based on interactive, enhanced content and searchable electronic resources. Also, students can have access to the course related materials through the course reserves option. Course reserves are books, articles, DVDs, and other items placed on reserve by the faculty for student use. These are usually high demand or required reading material. Course reserves are located at the Circulation Desk.
Faculty who wish to place items on reserve should bring the items to the Circulation Desk and complete a Course Reserves Request Form for each item.
Also, students through the Office of Student Affairs can exchange and offer no longer used textbooks to fellow students.

ACG focusing on its mission to provide access to quality education and based its efforts to promote sustainability across campus, encourages faculty to adopt books from our licensed content for their courses and in some occasions purchase DRM-free (Digital Rights Management-free) books to be used as textbooks.
