The Mansfield Campus Plant Operations & Maintenance (POM) Department oversees eleven major buildings and seven student residence halls (i.e., apartment buildings) totaling approximately 477,000 gross sq. ft. and 640 acres of grounds. The Mansfield Campus project management group is responsible for campus construction, renovation and restoration projects, and current and future space planning.

Mansfield Campus groundskeeping staff are responsible for the care of campus grounds, which includes mowing, weeding, leaf removal, turf renovation, ornamental and herbaceous planting, pruning and removals.
Also, activities include daily policing of campus grounds to remove trash and debris from lawn, roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, building entryways.
Maintenance and repair of trucks, tractors, riding mowers, golf carts, snow plows, lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws and hand tools are provided by this department.
During the winter, grounds staff is responsible for the removal of snow and ice from parking lots, roadways and sidewalks.
Since the 2007, 95% of annual landscape beds have been reverted to natural perennial beds or lawn, half of manicured lawn areas reverted to fields & woodlands and use of all lawn chemicals ceased.
