The Newark Campus (The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College) does not have a defined policy to monitor waste diversion. However, the campus has made a commitment to sound waste management operations.

The campus uses single-stream recycling. The waste collection service is provided by Rumpke (Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc). (Details are provided in credit topic OP 17, Waste Reduction.)

Waste diversion practices include the following:
a) The campus Information & Technology Services Department has an equipment disposal plan
b) When possible, old campus furniture and equipment are 1) re-purposed, 2) sold, 3) donated to non-profit entities, or 4) recycled
c) Only after all other options are exhausted will old furniture/equipment be taken to the landfill.
