Tufts supports OA in several ways, including paying membership fees for OA journals, maintaining the Tufts Digital Library as a place to house OA content, and providing funds to cover some OA publishing charges.

While the OA policy doesn't *require* researchers to publish in OA journals, it is a policy that covers the entire institution. This credit doesn't have an option for to report a voluntary program so "unknown" was selected below.
Tufts researchers supported by grant funding adhere to open access requirements from their funders, such as the NIH Public Access policy (https://publicaccess.nih.gov/policy.htm) or the NSF Data Sharing Policy (https://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/dmp.jsp).
The School of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering has policies related to open access (see https://sites.tufts.edu/scholarlycommunication/tufts-policies/). Such policies concern Fair Use of Copyrighted Materials, Rights and Responsibilities with Respect to Intellectual Property, and Information Stewardship.

Financial support for open access publishing is provided by the School of Arts & Sciences' Faculty Research Awards Committee Open Access Publishing Award (https://asefaculty.tufts.edu/faculty-governance/faculty-committees/faculty-research-awards-committee/frac-application-portal); the Tisch Library Open Access Publishing Fund (https://tischlibrary.tufts.edu/about-library/library-awards/tisch-library-open-access-publishing-fund) for the School of Arts, Sciences & Engineering; and the Friedman School's open access publishing support fund (https://tufts.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3EpGUEOPCexQvdz).
Tufts has signed a transformative agreement with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Under this new agreement, Tufts corresponding authors publishing in ACM journals, proceedings, and magazines can make their articles freely available to anyone (open access) at no cost to the author. Open Access Publishing Funding Support for Faculty:
SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES AND THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
The Committee on Faculty Research Awards supports faculty research in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering, including open access publishing charges in journals that are 100% open access (i.e. “true” open access journals). To apply for funding, complete the FRAC Open Access Publishing Application. Applications are open to tenure-stream members of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences.
FRIEDMAN SCHOOL OF NUTRITION
The Office of Faculty Affairs has initiated a pilot program offering faculty development funds for open accessing publishing and conference support. Faculty and postdoctoral scholars at the Friedman School of Nutrition are eligible. To apply, please complete the faculty development funds application.
FACULTY IN OTHER TUFTS SCHOOLS
We encourage faculty in other Tufts schools to talk to their deans about funding support possibilities, or to get in touch with their library to talk about ways to make their research open.
Tisch Library Open Access Publishing Fund
Funds are available for awards of up to $3,000 to support authors in Arts, Science, and Engineering who want to publish in OA journals or books but do not have other sources of funding to cover open access fees. Articles with A&S faculty co-authors should look to the Faculty Research Award Committee (FRAC) for funding opportunities first. The Tufts Scholarly Communication Team, comprised of librarians and staff from across Tufts, is charged by the Tufts Library Council with the responsibility of monitoring issues and answering questions about copyright and fair use, open access, and author’s rights. Information is available on the Copyright, Open Access & Publishing Support site (https://sites.tufts.edu/scholarlycommunication/). Users can find answers to questions and contact librarians for additional support. The Libraries also provide support for open sharing of data: https://researchguides.library.tufts.edu/RDM/Home.
Tufts Libraries and Tufts Digital Collections and Archives support faculty, students, and researchers at Tufts in making their work openly accessible through the Tufts Digital Library (https://dl.tufts.edu/) and through the Tufts University Dataverse (https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse/tufts/).
The Tufts Libraries have membership agreements with some publishers for reduced APC fees for Tufts authors for OA publishing (see https://sites.tufts.edu/scholarlycommunication/oa-support-at-tufts/).
