Is the institution a member of the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC)?:
Yes

Is the institution currently a member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA)? :
Yes

Is the institution currently a member of an equivalent independent monitoring and verification organization approved by AASHE?:
No

A brief description of the independent monitoring and verification organization:

UCLA maintains transparency in its programs through its memberships in fairlabor.org and workersrights.org. Since 2010, UCLA has been developing a process to verify Fair Labor practices related it its Trademarked items. UCLA has for several years measured the performance of all trademark licensees on social sustainability metrics, using that data as criteria upon which to grant and renew trademark licenses. During the last ten years, UCLA awarded 50% fewer licenses to licensees that proved a demonstrated willingness and ability to develop systems and processes designed to meet code of conduct standards for business and human rights. The program was revenue neutral despite a net retrenchment of licensees from more than 300 to the current 145.

Has the institution adopted a labor rights code of conduct in its licensing agreements with the licensees who produce its logo apparel?:
Yes

A copy of the labor rights code of conduct for licensees:
The labor rights code of conduct for licensees:

It is the policy of the University of California (UC or University) that goods bearing the names of the University or its campuses, abbreviations of these names, logos, mascots, seals, or other trademarks owned by UC must be produced under fair, safe, and humane working conditions. Thus, all goods bearing UC Trademarks, regardless of enduse – including retail and promotional items, gifts, uniforms, or other uses – must be produced or otherwise sourced only through companies authorized, by virtue of a licensing or other agreement, to place UC trademarks onto products (e.g., apparel, school supplies, toys, and promotional goods). It is the responsibility of all UC employees and students ordering goods bearing UC’s name, logos or other UC-owned trademarks (including names of University departments) to use only authorized Licensees that have expressly agreed to adhere to this policy. Licensees must agree to the standards set forth in this policy throughout their supply chain and must responsibly manage a transparent supply chain.
