Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Total 58,249.56 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 68,845.18 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Figures needed to determine net carbon sinks:

A brief description of the carbon sinks, including vendor, project source, verification program and contract timeframes (as applicable):

While Facilities Management does do food and yard waste composting, the amount of carbon sequestered is unknown.

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 58,249.56 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 68,845.18 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date July 1, 2019 July 1, 2012
End date June 30, 2020 June 30, 2013

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

The period preceding 2013 included substantial growth in campus footprint and utility consumption. In the mid-2010s, UD had reached roughly its current building footprint, and utility usage was relatively stable on most of the campus, except for Curran Place which experienced rapid growth due to more intensive research labs that were being added to the facility. At the end of FY12-13, UD signed the ACUPCC. In the late 2010s, major energy efficiency efforts were under way. For this reason, 2013 is the most suitable baseline year.

Figures needed to determine “Weighted Campus Users”:
Performance year Baseline year
Number of students resident on-site 6,382 6,126
Number of employees resident on-site 0 0
Number of other individuals resident on-site 0 0
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 10,698 10,159
Full-time equivalent of employees 2,950 2,428
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 566 386
Weighted Campus Users 11,407 10,682.25

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 5.11 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 6.44 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:
20.77

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
5,511,406 Gross square feet

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:
Floor area
Laboratory space 1,170,165 Square feet
Healthcare space 0 Square feet
Other energy intensive space 0 Square feet

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
7,851,736 Gross square feet

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.01 MtCO2e per square foot

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

UD is a signatory of Second Nature and the We Are Still In commitment.

UD has a Green Revolving Fund that is used to fund energy efficiency projects on campus. It has been heavily utilized by energy management staff and has funded projects initiated outside of operations by faculty and student community members.
