The Hui Mālama ʻĀina Sustainability Club was established in Fall 2019 and was an official Registered Independent Student Organization (RISO) on campus. According to the groupʻs official bylaws, "the purpose of this organization is to foster the spirit of mālama ‘āina and aloha ‘āina, both on campus and in our greater community, by providing students with opportunities to participate in environmentally focused community service activities, work on sustainability initiatives on campus, and strengthen their personal connection to the natural world."

The Hawaiʻi-CC Agriculture program has a farm with hydroponics, aquaponics, gardens, and composting.

Geography of Hawaiʻi students participate in service learning activities, at a a wide variety of locations on Hawaiʻi Island. Some of these service learning projects include fish pond restoration and maintaining native plants and gardens.
