The health and wellness of Pitt faculty and staff members is an institutional priority. Pitt's Wellness for Life program focuses on proactive health care management. Services are offered to promote positive lifestyle activities and choices. A healthy lifestyle may reduce health care cost escalation for Pitt staff members and their families. Pitt offers numerous health and wellness programs and services to complement our medical benefits plans. Every academic year, faculty and staff can also participate in the wellness incentives program by earning reward dollars for every healthy activity completed. The University of Pittsburgh cares deeply about the health and well-being of every student. We’ve established a comprehensive health care program at Student Health Service (SHS) that includes an outpatient clinic with an array of services (medical, immunization, psychiatric, & more), a full-service pharmacy, a robust health education programming, and a stress-free zone (including yoga classes). Pitt is not a tobacco-free campus. However, smoking is prohibited within 15 feet of primary building entrances and the HVAC intake vents of all University owned and leased property.

Primary entrances are defined as the common public access points to each building and is not intended for doors designated as emergency exit only or as service entrances. However, portions of loading docks that are under building cover shall be considered as inside the building, and smoking shall be prohibited.
