A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:

SIT Study Abroad Australia:
Sustainability and Environmental Action: Participants in this program will study climate, geology, geomorphology, soils, and flora and fauna as well as the area’s human history and culture, in order to instill a sense of place and to help understand its unique management issues. Through three interactive workshops, students learn about environmental psychology, discover how Aboriginal peoples view and relate to their environments, and get practical tools to take effective action toward environmental social change.

UTK Smart Infrastructure and Sustainability Engineering in China:
This study abroad program fosters an understanding of the fundamental engineering concepts that impact the sustainable infrastructure design critical for smart cities. The program includes several site visits related to sustainability engineering and smart city systems, and cultural and engineering marvels in the Shanghai metropolitan area.

UTK Sustainability in Germany: Students will focus on research, programs and strategies, development of plans, and implementation of plans that are aimed at dealing with sustainability, the environment, climate change, and energy efficiency.

UTK Nexus of Food, Energy and Water in China: The program provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to learn transdisciplinary knowledge and develop perspectives on the importance of the nexus of food, energy and water systems (FEWS) at global scale. Through outdoor observations, discussion, and indoor studies in Northeast China, students will learn the principles and practices of ecological agriculture and environmental protection with respect to climate change, energy consumption, and urbanization while experiencing Chinese culture by interacting with students, professors and industry leaders in China as well as touring Beijing, Shenyang, and Changchun.
