A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) works in partnership with the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) to host an intensive two-day faculty development program entitled the International Center for Sustainability Across the Curriculum (ICSAC) Conference. Growing out of our university’s successful Project Sin Fronteras, the program has a common goal that brings together faculty from all fields, allowing for an exchange of ideas in an enriching collaborative atmosphere. This interdisciplinary experience helps faculty to incorporate sustainability concepts, problems, or solutions into new or existing courses. Experienced faculty and presenters share knowledge on issues of sustainability, environment, and curriculum to support the education for sustainable development in higher education.

Sustainability Graduate Research Fellowship

A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Office for Sustainability recruits fellowships with diverse skill sets and perspectives wanting to engage in projects addressing sustainability and community resilience on campus and in the Rio Grande Valley under the mentorship of a faculty member and coordinated by UTRGV's Office for Sustainability. Fellows range from undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty-based fellowships all aiming to achieve meaningful findings and research through the appropriate mentorship of a faculty member and/or faculty advisor.The fellowship also allows faculty to build a strong relationship with community partners and networking opportunities with other sustainability leaders. Those aspiring to become a fellow at the Office for Sustainability must meet all qualifying requirements and have a general understanding and interest in participating in finding sustainable solutions across campuses and their community.

Sustainability Adelante Podcast Series

A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:

The Sustainability Adelante UTRGV Office for Sustainability Podcast Series showcases the testimonials and accomplishments of our expert sustainability partners throughout the Rio Grande Valley. The Podcasts covers a wide range of Sustainable Development topics that support the social, environmental, and economic systems that are needed to sustain life and promote equity in our world. The series will cover spotlight topics each month that are historically significant to sustainability in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, and the World beyond.
