UFV's is apart of the BC Campus Open Textbook Project which is Canada's first government-funded project of its kind, and has been tasked with the ongoing creation of open textbooks for the province’s public post-secondary system. The texts are available for free online or through low-cost print versions. BC Campus provides updated lists of these textbooks as more become available.

The B.C. Open Textbook Project, used by UFV, is funded by the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, and it is managed by BCcampus. A goal of the Project is to provide flexible and affordable access to higher education resources in B.C. by making 60 openly-licensed textbooks available. These texts will be available for selection by B.C. faculty, and digital versions of the texts will be free of charge to students. For those who prefer a printed copy, this format will also be available on demand for a low cost. This is the first government funded initiative of its kind in Canada.
