The Subcommittee on Investment Responsibility sets the College’s proxy voting policy and decides how to vote proxy issues that are not covered in the proxy voting policy. They also consider future requests about socially- and environmentally-motivated actions that have an impact on the endowment.

The Subcommittee on Investment Responsibility is comprised of 2 students, 2 faculty members and 3-4 trustees.
Examples of CIR actions during the previous three years:
In the last three years, the Subcommittee on Proxy Voting has discussed and voted 57 proxy issues that were not covered by the proxy voting policy. The vast majority of these issues were related to social and environmental concerns.
· Building supply company, supported a proposal to establish quantitative goals to reduce greenhouse gases
· Financial services company & Energy company, supported proposals to publish an annual sustainability report
· Energy company, supported a proposal to add an independent director with environmental expertise
· Apparel company, supported a proposal that the board report on plans to increase board diversity
