A brief description of the institution’s employee community service initiatives:

60% of faculty contracts are Instruction and then we can choose how to split the remaining 40% between Service (to school and community) and professional development. Many people choose to list their community service (e.g., Board membership). Numerous faculty develop community service components within sustainability focused curriculum. For example, in ecology and wildlife, and environment and sustainability classes, students go out and do habitat restoration projects with local land management agencies (BLM,USFS).

BLM Public Lands days for restoration activities, pulling cheat grass, planting sage brush, collecting seed and road decommissioning on public lands.
Student volunteers for recycling center in community and land fill, on campus recycling, sustainable Crested Butte activity, organics guild working in the community gardens/greenhouses on campus, food pantry (sorting and organization and collecting food at local grocery stores for food pantry), rural transportation authority (clean buses, volunteered at Mountain Roots program and White Water Park and Gunnison trails doing clean up.
Zero waste athletic event volunteers at certain Western games.
