A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:

The Center for the Environment at Catawba College hosts a series of events throughout the year, including Eco-Lunches, speaker events, panel events, and more. The Center has a collection of policies that guide how each of these events are hosted, including:
- Providing an opportunity for attendance via Zoom or another teleconferencing option
- Providing vegan options for food that is available to attendees
- Minimizing paper use by predominantly utilizing screens and other technology for the communication of information
- Hosting events in the Center for the Environment building, which employs energy efficient lighting
- Minimizing and diverting waste by providing compostable materials and compost disposal, and by recycling appropriate materials
- Communicating about the sustainable practices to event attendees by informing them of the waste minimization and diversion efforts, including how they can participate, and by using signage about available food options
