A brief description of notable policies or programs to make the institution accessible and affordable to low-income students:
1) Langara has the lowest tuition fees across high education institutions located in British Columbia's Lower Mainland, offering affordable access to high quality education.
2) Bursaries: Various Bursaries are awarded to eligible students who apply and demonstrate financial need.
3) While not included in the percentages above (which are for the 2019 academic year), Langara initiated an emergency funding program related to COVID-19 in 2020, which was in addition to bursary values provided for Spring 2020. The funding provided by that Program is outlined below:
- Domestic students: 574 recipients for a total of $252,800
- International students: 404 recipients for a total of $190,000
- TOTAL: 978 students for a total of $442,800
4) Scholarships: Langara College scholarships and awards are intended to recognize and support the outstanding achievement of our students. There are general scholarships available and specific departmental scholarships as well.
5) Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP): The Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP) provides paid employment for students who demonstrate financial need. SWAP students work in various capacities on campus throughout the year.
6) Work on Campus Program (WOC): The Work on Campus Program (WOC) allows students to be employed as peer tutors or perform basic research at Langara for departments that have positions available.
7) Community Cupboard: Langara Community Cupboard provides one week's worth of non-perishable food items per student per week. The Community Cupboard bags contain approximately 21 meals. This includes items like instant oatmeal and fruit cups for breakfasts, soups & canned vegetables for lunches, and pasta & rice for dinners. Bags contain 18 different items and are all vegetarian.

A brief description of notable policies or programs to support non-traditional students:
1) Hamper Program (Back to school and Holiday): The Langara Back to School Hamper supports students by giving necessary back to school supplies such as backpacks, umbrellas, various office supplies and gift cards to retail stores for clothing and groceries. The Holiday Hamper supports Langara student families with various toys, books, gift cards and other items identified by the families.
2) Bursaries: Various Bursaries are awarded to eligible students who apply and demonstrate financial need. Specific Bursaries are available for single parents who demonstrate financial need.
3) Former Youth in Care (Post Care): Assistance and support for young adults that have lived as a youth in care in British Columbia which include: tuition waiver programs, bursaries, and education assistance funds.
4) Indigenous Upgrading Program (IUD): Langara's Indigenous Upgrading Program supports non-graduated adults in the Musqueam community complete their adult Dogwood diploma and connect to further education or career opportunities. The program prepares students academically, building the soft skills needed to facilitate their successful transition to post-secondary studies while incorporating Musqueam knowledge, learning, and teaching methods.

There are general scholarships available and specific departmental scholarships as well. Specific scholarships are available for single parent students studying either full-time or part-time.
