Sustainability Advisory Committee:
The Sustainability and Environmental Justice Advisory Committee advises and supports the Sustainability office in its mission to be a catalyst, convener, and champion of urban sustainability and environmental justice across and beyond campus. Priorities for this committee in 2023-2026 include helping update Macalester's sustainability goals related to campus decarbonization and zero waste

Wellness and Health at Macalester (WHAM)
The mission of the WHAM Committee is to foster a working and learning environment that promotes healthy lifestyle choices by increasing awareness, providing educational opportunities, and supporting lifestyle changes. Healthier lifestyles among faculty and staff will in turn create happier, more productive individuals who benefit themselves, Macalester, and the greater community.

Dining Advisory Committee: Dining Advisory Committee works on projects pertaining to Bon Appetit. Topics discussed by the committee include initiatives such as repricing meal plans, expanding meal-swipe flexibility, and providing options for students with allergies or other dietary requirements, and access for meals during breaks. The committee has also been a place where sustainability initiatives related to campus dining such as replacing red meet with more vegetarian options, food waste reduction, and food security are discussed and coordinated

The Sustainability Advisory Committee includes three staff members, three faculty members, and three students. It also includes the Vice President of Facilities and the Vice President of Finance for the college

The Wellness and Health at Macalester (WHAM) committee is composed of 2 faculty and 5 staff who are interested in promoting health and wellness at Macalester.

The dining advisory committee is chaired by the general manager of Bon Appetit as well as the purchasing director on campus. It includes students and representatives from residential life, the sustainability office and accessability services.

A brief description of each sustainability office:

The mission of the Sustainability Office is too be a catalyst, convener, and champion of urban sustainability and environmental justice ideas and actions across and beyond campus. The vision of the sustainability office is to create a healthy sustainable and environmentally just urban community now and richer possibilities for generations to come.

The sustainability office accomplishes this mission and vision by:

• helping to form connections between students, staff, faculty and the senior administration
• creating and supporting campus communication structures
• acting as a central hub of information on sustainability
• supporting sustainability projects and policies

The Sustainability Office works in partnership with Facilities Services, the Kofi Annan Institute for Global Citizenship, the Serie Center for Scholarship and Teaching, the Department of Multicultural Life, Health and Wellness, Residential Life, the Environmental Studies Department, and many other offices on campus.

The Sustainability Office has supported and coordinated a number of important sustainability initiatives in the last three years, including implementing a campus-move out donation program and expanding the campus free-swap to circulate donations on campus and distribute donations to local community partners, promoting bike usage on campus and expanding the campus bike rental program, coordinating a free menstrual cup program, participating in and spearheading college-wide anti-racism and environmental justice efforts, awarding funding for sustainability-related course development and research, and collaborating with Facilities Services on advancing carbon neutrality efforts, the establishment of a make art not waste event on campus, and encouraging the re-establishment of food justice initiatives such as MacShare and food recovery and donations programs after covid-19.
