Specific campus bicycle plans are created for bike parking, bike-sharing, bicycle safety and enforcement, and bicycle improvements. The campus is designated a silver level Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists. In addition, the city of Irvine, in which UC Irvine is cited, has included the campus in its Bicycle Transportation Plan (revised 2011) and works in partnership with campus planners and transportation staff to apply for and receive bicycle infrastructure grants for major projects.
