Sustainable Menstrual Products

A brief description of the campaign:

The Sustainable Menstrual Products campaign headed by the Student Office of Sustainability was created to combat period poverty for UW-Eau Claire students, and to promote more sustainable solutions for students who menstruate. This campaign provided menstrual cups and reusable period underwear for students to pick up at Student Health Services, the Intersectional Women’s Center, Campus Harvest Food Pantry/Campus Closet, and the Student Sustainability Resource Center at any time.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

221 products were picked up from beginning of April, 2023 through May, 2023.

Earth Claire

A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Earth Claire holds events thoughout the entire month of April with representation from many different environmental and sustainability-focused organizations, on-campus and from the community.

Trash Pickup Event at Putnam Park- During Earth Claire 2023, students picked up 4 full bags of trash from Putnam Park.

Soles4souls- Used and new shoe drive where students can bring their old unwanted shoes and they will be donated. In 2023, a total of 1,340 pairs of shoes were donated by UWEC

4 full bags of trash were picked up and 1340 pairs of shoes were donated.

Sustainable Office Certification Program- This program provides resources for all students, staff, and faculty to practice and preserve the campus environment and reduce the overall harmful impact on the environment and to enhance a culture of sustainability in your office. ​
