A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

New employee orientation events happen twice yearly - at the beginning of fall and spring semesters. Human Resources coordinates the training. Starting in 2022, sustainability is included in the presentations that all new employees receive. The presentations include sustainability definitions, an overview of the SDGs, the sustainability core value, sustainability goals in both the academic and strategic plans, and an overview of STARS. During the overview of STARS, we mention areas where we do well and areas for improvement. The end of the presentation provides a list of ways employees can become more engaged in sustainability efforts through their individual actions as well as through engagement with committees and groups on campus.

Additionally, UWRF hosts "Opening Week" each fall and spring, which has events catering to new and current employees. Sustainability is one of the standing items, with at least one event each fall and spring opening week.
