A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:

Several opportunities for staff development exist at UWRF. One of those programs is the UWRF Behind the Scenes, a series of events highlighting various aspects of campus and the goals of each area. A 2023 Behind the Scenes event featured the UWRF Ecological Restoration Institute.

It is important to note that there are many more opportunities for faculty and staff on campus to engage in sustainability through notable visitor presentations, collaborative research, student life activities that cater to the broader campus community, and all the diverse ways campus is used as a living laboratory.

The Sustainability Office offers training to all faculty and staff. Topics for training include waste minimization, campus sustainability overviews, and sustainability tours. UWRF partnered with several community groups in 2023 to offer a green team training program. This was open to UWRF employees, and UWRF did have a team of employees participate.


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

UWRF sends faculty and staff to the AASHE Conference each year. The number of participants varies yearly but usually involves a combination of staff and faculty.

UWRF has also funded training for faculty and staff to participate in virtual training and other regional events. Multiple employees attended the 2021 UMACS conference, and several participated in AASHE workshops between 2021 and 2023.
