Data Quality Certificate (3.0)

This is an optional Innovation & Leadership (IL) credit. IL credits recognize institutions that are seeking innovative solutions to sustainability challenges and demonstrating sustainability leadership in ways that are not otherwise captured in STARS. Scoring in the Innovation and Leadership section is capped at 10 bonus points total.

How has this credit changed between STARS Version 2 and Version 3?

This is a new credit that allows an institution to earn up to one bonus point when a valid STARS 3.0 Data Quality Certificate from AASHE is held by one or more individuals affiliated with data collection and/or review. How can I acquire a STARS data quality certificate?

Prospective STARS data providers and reviewers can earn a STARS data quality certificate by participating in one of AASHE’s STARS 3.0 Data Quality workshops, and through successful completion of a follow-up assessment. The first STARS 3.0 Data Quality workshop will be held on September 26, 2024 (registration TBA).

  • Attend the STARS 3.0 Data Quality workshop to begin the process of earning your STARS data quality certificate. 

Potential Data Quality Issues

  • To count, the institution’s lead STARS data provider(s) and/or reviewer(s) must hold a STARS 3.0 Data Quality Certificate, and the certificate can be earned by attendees of AASHE’s STARS 3.0 Data Quality Workshop
    • The first 3.0 Data Quality Workshop will be offered in September 2024. 
  • If earning the full 1 bonus point, there must be an indication that one or more lead data provider(s) AND one or more reviewer(s) have attained the certificate.
