Tier2-2: Employee Training Opportunities

In addition to the emphasis placed on valuing all people as a core value of the College, the institution has brought in outside speakers to provide Diversity-related content, workshops, and presentations:
Provided training to all Facilities employees about the College’s policy and commitment to workplace free of all types of harassment (sexual harassment, related to ethnicity, religion, etc.). These sessions were conducted at Facilities Mgmt and included viewing and discussing excerpts from a Diversity DVD.
In addition to the above programming that the College provided or coordinated, the College provides a plethora of ongoing opportunities for staff and faculty to learn about other cultures and gain understanding about minority/under-represented groups. Prominent among these are:
· The Black Culture Center has a variety of programs and resources available to all staff and faculty devoted to exploration of interracial themes. Prominent among these are Luncheons with speakers (”Tukule Tusome”), and interracial dialogues convened around dinners. Contact the B.C.C. to ascertain attendance and to learn more about other programming available to the staff and faculty.
· The Center of International Education organizes and sponsors a variety of presentations, workshops, for staff, faculty, and students dedicated to exploration of the world’s cultures.
· The Campus Christian Center is dedicated to exploration of an inclusive Christian faith, including full exploration of all the world’s religious traditions. Programs they conduct that manifest this commitment include “Spiritual Seekers” luncheons and partnership with national organizations connected to “Interfaith” programming.
· The Convocations program often includes speakers who engage the audience in diversity – related themes.
